I got this far, but I can't figure out how to do the 2D grid w/ the face as in the help files.


Move the null along the 'Z' axis

Just add a User Data entry onto your Null object, set it as Vector>2D vector field, and use this as the driving parameter.

I got the part shown in the left side to work, (see zip) but can someone explain what is supposed to be going on with the right side? The help files don't cover any of that.

If you read carefully my previous message, I explained it all.
On the right side of the image there, are 2D vector fields added to the HUD.
These 2D Vector fields come from a User Data placed on the object that has the driver tags, and used as the driving parameter (if you add a User Data to the object with the driver tags, your will see that User Data enrty available in the driving parameter list of the driver tag).

Once you have created this 2D vector field, just right-click on the User Data in the Attributes Manager and add it to the HUD.
