So I just snagged a copy of Blender after a recommendation from a friend of mine. Not really intending on doing anything super serious with it at the moment, but I do want to expand my abilities considerably.
Anyways, I'm planning on cramming my skull with as much madness concerning this program as possible during the winter.
However, the first step is understanding it. Aside from the guide on the website, could anyone drop me some links to some beginner projects to play with once I get comfortable with the UI?
Thanks in advance for the help.

In case it might help, there are a lot of beginners tutorials around, that make it much easier to round the corners when you are in the hard "first encounter" with blender... For example here:

I found Cog's tutorials helpful when I was fairly new.

Also Greybeard's...

Even though they are for older versions of blender, it should still give some ideas and help as to how to do things.
