View Full Version : Atom Array vs Advanced Atom Array

While I like the Atom Array (AA) object for quick breaking down of solid forms into more structural objects, is there any reason this deformer has not seen the kind of addition of function as can be found in the windows only version of the Advanced Atom Array (AAA) deformer (plugin)?

The AAA allows the vertices as well as the edges to be defined as cubes or spheres instead of the just as spheres and cylinder in the AA deformer. And it adds increased functionality by allowing either one of these to be switch off live.

Is there a version of this for the MAC somewhere?

I have sent off a suggestion in the past for improvements to AA - it only helps to make it more accessible to architectural visualization. But it still in 10.5 seems to be as simple as it has always been. Maybe there is something in Mograph I have not discovered that will allow for this and more.

Please let me know if there is another solution for this kind of improvement in functionality.

Thanks!

i vote for this too, AAA is a great tool.
i'd love to see an extra functionality: definition of edges with other primitives (i.e elleipsoids) or with custom-made splines.

Certainly the mograph cloner object adds all that flexibility and more, though the setup might be a tad more involved...

...Like this, for instance.

Drop an object into the link box in the User data area of the "array cloner's" attributes field. Change the child objects in each cloner to get a different object onto the edges, for instance.

A little more xpresso would get you a pretty automated setup, with central control over many of the various parameters...

For those that have not upgraded to v10, this (Advanced Atom Array)
would be a nice upgrade.

hi vid2k2
Advanced Atom Array (http://www.defcon-x.de/wordpress/c4d-plugins/), is a freeware plug for r.9.1

well simply consider no modeling and generator objects we touched in that upgrade so its simply a matter of it being an area not currently in focus for any of the developers right now.

Thanks George,

I have no idea how I missed this one :)

PC only :( I'm on a MAC.

well, someone might be kind enough to compile it for mac.
(with the prooer permissions ofcourse)
i think it happened b4 with other single-platform plugs.

Hello Nick,

Thanks for this help, this xpresso setup is just what I was looking for. I think I have it figured out (the way you put it together). I learned a lot here! I had no idea you could pull out things from mograph like this!

See Nick's example, it works very well.
