Hey there people!
I'm actually planning an Animation for School, sort of a concept music visualization. But i could really use some help there. ;)
What i want to do is the following:
I modelled a Drum-set, which i want to render in pure white and everytime you hear a sound one of the parts should pop up, like it was painted with a neon color, enlighting the surrounding parts. You see what i mean in the Pic below.
Now in order to get that working i thought about making a renderpass in white and another one for every single part i want to enlight in its own color and than multiply the layers.
- How can i get a renderlayer to show me only the parts of a suface that are enlightened by a specific light or by final gather? is there an option for that?
- How can i get my surfaces to cast light onto the surrounding objects w/o using final gathering? (i dont want to use FG, because i takes to long to render and i think it wont look good in an animation) i there a way to fake that?
(I'm working with Maya 8.5)
I know my english isn't perfect, but i still hope you get what i mean ;)
