I'm animating a bee flying around a room... I was wondering if there's another way to animate the wings flapping without having to do it by hand....Would I use an expression?

just do a complete flap cycle - up, down, and back up.
Then cycle the animation.

just animate one cycle, the go into the graph editor, select the curves and go to post infinity->cycle. you could do it with an expression too, but this way lets you have more complex animation and is easier.

you might be able to get something from this. The girl has done some research on bat flight. She wrote me back with some answers, and she has worked with MAYA for animating. I hope this can help you out
