hi there,

i'm having bad problems with my opengl display.
this "cursor shadowing" happens with all selection
tools. tried searching this forum for vista opengl
related problems, but i couldn't find any solution
to this. tried every option in the opengl dialog, tried
different drivers, reinstalled cinema, but nothing helped
so far.

my specs:

cinema 10.5
vista 64-bit home premium
geforce 8800 gts 640

hope someone can help me, 'cause working in software
mode isn't really an option. thanks in advance...

sebastian

If you hit the A key to force a screen refresh do the shadows go away?
This could be a further step in the problem where the screen doesn't update when you change a material. People have talked about that one on this forum. It's been blamed on OGL too. Could just be a driver issue. Or it could be a hardware issue with the video ram. Do you have another video card you could try?
Really hard to diagnose these things unfortunately.

I've always had live selection tool ghosting with nVidia cards on any Windows OS. You need to disable vertical synching in the graphics card settings.

On my Vista powered laptop I get a number of graphics problems running C4D. Seems there is no solution near. To get C4D to run I've had to click on the exe and change it to disable desktop composition and then in C4D disable the 2 smart settings. This doesn't stop the graphics problems but it stops C4D crashing every 2 minutes.

man, 3DKiwi you saved my day.
disabling the desktop composition or "desktopgestaltung (in german)"
fixed it. no more shadowing at all.
this lead me to an idea and i switched from vista to windows classic
design and voila: no shadowing as well without manipulating the
compatibility options of the cinema.exe.

crappy aero that is

i'm very happy now. cheers,
sebastian...

Glad that worked for you :)

Actually I quite like the Aero look. Other programs like Hexagon work fine under it in OpenGL mode.
