View Full Version : extrude edge or poly...how do I?

hey..
seems like i a noobie questions...but fed up with edge-> extrude the way i'm using it...always seems to extrude the inside of the poly...
so is this possible...am i missing something.

Make sure you are in edge mode... Select the edge(s)...

Now option-click and drag with the extrude tool. Without releasing the mouse, release option, and you will be able to control the direction of extrusion. Press option again for refining the length some more... And so on.

For PC users this would be CTRL.

no guys look at the pic...sorry i wasn't that clear.
as if you didn't have preserve groups on...on a normal extrude.

if i do what you describe, i get a split on the polys to the left and right....i just want to extrude one poly only...the middle one and affect non of the others...strange but easier...is it possible...?

Hi,use the Alt key(PC) or whatever the Mac equivelent of this is and this will give you what you want.For further info it's on page 476 of the manual.

cheers...i knew i wasn't using these R8 tools right...
