Open media project for perspective drawing course. Assignment was to create and render in 2-point perspective a personal sized craft and on critique day I had to "sell" it to a panel of judges. In my case the judges were an american automobile company. I won the competition by a few points.

In quad view from top left image in counter clockwise the modes are - hover, pure flight, submarine, and land lover.

man that owns....wish i had that much creativity/innovation...all you need to do now is convince that company to build me one :)

Killer design.
Congrats on your win.
btw: are you sure the mode listing is correct (starting from top-left, going counter-clockwise)?
Didn't seem right to me... I'd say top-left/counter clockwise would be flight/land/sub/hover. No?

EthanMartin
04-13-2003, 12:44 AM
Your right, it's supposed to be clockwise from top-left.
Thanks.

brittnell
04-13-2003, 12:48 AM
;)
clockwise from top left looks like:
flight/hover/sub/land, correct?
btw... any plans on animating it?
oh yeah, and what software did you use?

Gremlin
04-13-2003, 01:29 AM
I think it goes (clockwise from top left)...
hover (over water?), flight, sub, land.... :D

interesting design, I wanna see some animations!
Cheers,

great concept! I want one :)

It is a little bit hard to figure out what the lower-right is doing? It dosn't look like it could fly in that config...what I've got is

upper-left: fly (two in the back make you go foreward, two down keep you up)
lower-left: drive (well of cource ;) )
upper-right: hover
lower-right: ??

neat man! ur imagination is wild..:applause:
can we see a simulation of this transformer..or some more close up renders to understand more of this cool vehical!

coool  nice one ethan :)
c4d right?

one thingy though, the spokes on the wheels look very thin, and I wouldn't of thought those blades are angled enough to make it fly ( for the size of the wheels that is )

and also to be very picky, how do you get inside it? there seems to be no way of getting in it like a conventional car

hhmm an other car concept, really we dont see this oftenly here at cgtalk

Good job i like the idea :)

Great model. i really like the fan blade in the back.

EthanMartin
04-13-2003, 03:13 AM
brittnell, gremlin, you guys got the right idea. ;) I used Cinema4dxl 8 and I don't have any plans to animate it, at least not for the next two weeks.

Lower right is submarine stephen.

Good observations squidinc. Maybe it's not possible for such a device to fly according to the proportions, mechanics, materials, etc. (good thing I don't plan on spending hundreds of thousands to build it. :D) I guess I lucked out because none of the judges were engineers. To get inside the entire front side from the upper lights to below the lower lights swings open. I haven't added the slice in the frame for this action to take place but I won't worry about that until I build the interior and have a reason to open it.

you got this talent at (industrial) designing Ethan:thumbsup: congrats on the competition :applause: what competition was that may i know?
btw i believe you're the same one as Epheckz who made the Monkeybot, yes?

post more designs!

EthanMartin

raden - Yeah I'm Epheckz. The competition was among four perspective drawing classes at the art institute I attend. I'll post some more designs soon.

Starv - Hovering is a less dangerous and difficult alternative to flying. This is why the design offers both flying and hovering.

Thanks for your responses.

very nice concept and renders, great job!

it's nice to see ppl from MIAD in the community. used to go there myself couple years ago. it's amazing students are implementing their projects in 3D at the first year already. I remember we didn't even have 3D classes in the curriculum back then. Do they offer a degree in 3D animation yet? :)

keep on the good works!

Unfortunately they don't offer a degree in 3d animation. What did you major in?

Pretty cool style, though we've seen rotating tyres on the delorean.

I like the organic shape of the body.

I wonder if we could see some of your sketches of how a person fits into the vehicle and how big it actually is?

keep it up

The sketches are long gone, they got tossed soon after the 3d realization. If I was to bring this model further I would use a front open-end cockpit with room for one.
