Title: 69 Mustang
Name: Daniel Lobo
Country: Brazil
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop

Another automobile model, did it to practice modeling, but Iīm still having a hardtime setting up the materials and lights. Iīm trying to reach realism, but still got a long way to go...
Any tips or techniques, please share them with me!

Tip: In real life not every surface is perfectly smooth and shiny. There is irregularities in everything.

Hi, congratulations, great job, but.. the deformation in the door of the every mustang are fundamentals, I lack that (My english is too bad.. sorry).

thats not a 69 it looks more like itīs from between 65-68. i think you need to get some good references and work on the details a bit more

as far as the materials and lighting you are nearly there-maybe look up a tutorial showing how to set up a professional style lighting room for your render-another appreoach would be the use of a hdri

what do you suggest? maybe go for textures in reflection and specular of the material? right now itīs all material settings, I had a texture in the chrome specular, it looked really good in the front of the car (like if someone had touched it bare handed), but the side details looked really messed up, like ink stains or something...

I understood you, and donīt bother the english, Iīm brazilian, your neighbor!
I made them, but I guess they were too smooth in the final render, Iīll make it a little deeper and evident! thanks man!

hey, thanks for the tip, I tryed hdri, but I was looking for a studio still look (like carīs print advertising), I searched for tutorials, but I only found for smaller objects, the reflections of the car paint looked poor, but Iīll keep searching for a good tutorial!
