In July of 1998 the LightWave Mailing List held a contest challenging contestants to render a celshaded 3D image that looked like "a frame out of an anime movie." I created an image with LightWave 5.6 and took second place.
This render has lighter shadows on the girl's skin and a slightly different aspect ratio, but otherwise it's the same image that took second place in that contest. 100% LightWave 5.6 render, unretouched.
