Hello, I finished modeling a charicature head model, and now I am ready to texture it. I unwrapped and have a nice UV map. My question doesnt deal with "discontinuous" textures or "getting rid of seams," but rather on how I can go about painting the actual texture in Photoshop. Everything I create looks terrible, and the only tutorials I see are on how to apply or get a UV map, not on the actuall painting of the image. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:)

There are different ways of going about it. I would take a mirror and look in it as you are painting your textures. Paint the lips how your lips are and make changes for how you want the character to look. You could take photos of your skin and such and scan them in and use those for you texture. If you use this method you have to be carful to retouch out all of the lighting that was in the photos. There is also a book by Bill Fleming

That shows you how to paint some nice texture maps in photoshop. I would also look at this tutorial.

Good luck and remember painting a good texture takes time to learn how to do so don't get frustraited if it does not happen on your first couple of tries.
