Does anybody know how to import .wire file to Maya?
converting from .wire to .obj in another program to export to
Maya did not get very clean geometry, and wondering if there is
any better way. If importing .wire file as NURBS surface it would be great so the surfaces can be converted to Poly in Maya.

Thanks

If you go into the Plug-In Manager in Maya you can load a plugin called MayaToAlias.mll. It will give you access to import/export dxf, iges, and aliaswire files.

Just open up Maya, and drag and drop your wire file right from its location into the Maya viewport, and it should just start running with the importing of the wire file. Works for me every time at least.

Hope this helps some.

You are my hero.

Opening or importing the .wire file did not work, but dragging and
dropping directly works!! what a magic.
Thank you very very much!

You need to turn on the studioimport plugin right down the bottom.

it is kind of an unorthodox way of importing the wire files, but like i said, it has always worked for me.

Why fix it, if it ain't broke?

:D
