"Replicants"
Inspired by Blade Runner

Early in the 21st Century, THE TYRELL
CORPORATION advanced Robot evolution
into the NEXUS phase - a being virtually
identical to a human - known as a Replicant.

The NEXUS 6 Replicants were superior
in strength and agility, and at least equal
in intelligence, to the genetic engineers
who created them.

Replicants were used Off-World as
slave labor, in the hazardous exploration and
colonization of other planets.
After a bloody mutiny by a NEXUS 6
combat team in an Off-World colony,
Replicants were declared illegal
on earth - under penalty of death.

Special police squads - BLADE RUNNER
UNITS - had orders to shoot to kill, upon
detection, any trespassing Replicant.

This was not called execution.
It was called retirement.

Well I hope I'm posting the right thing in the right place at the right time..

This sketch took a couple of hours in the end as I spent too long fiddling around with stuff..the background is rather more sketchy than the characters but hey ho. It was all done in PS. this sketch was an effort to try and get into the Bladerunner zone so I can do Sebastian's toys next which I can have a good think about whilst I dream and hopefully come up with something more exciting than this.

Here's mine, I haven't seen the movie Blade Runner so it most likely doesn't look anything like a Replicant, that is, if it looks like something at all :P

Ok I started with something for the visions of 2019 thread but I hit a brick wall with it so decided to do Sean Young's character Rachael. I know it doesn't scream original or replicant(She was a replicant, right?) especially in comparison with the other posts. If this post doesn't belong here let me know i'll take it out, I know that Robert mentioned a rachael thread but it hasn't been created. I really have no clue as to how the daily sketch forum runs.
Critiques and comments are welcomed

Both took about 35 minutes each in Photoshop

Sys404, CaveatScoti, mind blowing stuff guys! And in such a short time.

Quills, click the "insert image" button and enter the URL of the image.

Daw, very good likeness, good job man.

Cyanid, Thanks!
I never start doing value studies, maybe I should eh? :D
I guess I'm a bit lazy, cos I know they're very helpful. I always check my values afterwards

Here's the 15 minutes sketch.

After this it's straight to coloring in Painter and little tweaks afterwards in Photoshop.

Your image needs to be hosted someplace else such as photobucket. Then you copy and past the URL.

edit: or just follow Art2's thread link.

Wooohoooo!!! It worked! What a dumbass - thanks guys!:)

Well finally here is a bigger version of a replicant caught in the street by one of the Bladerunners. Something tells me she may just get away though..

It took 1.5-2 hours in PS after doodling with the characters for a while. Thus the background is rather more sketchy than the characters,

..and I've learnt something new today!

Awesome posts everybody! Thanks for the comments

CaveatScoti-- Love the mood and expression on your sketch.

Quills-- Looks like this belongs in the movie somewhere. I like the sketchy feel for the background it makes the replicant pop out more, although the blade runner is blending too much with the background

Art2-- Really like the colors and lighting.

After googling for more reference came across Rutger Hauer, Roy character. Here's a 45 minute one.

Fantastic work from daw and 404, as always. I suspect this one will end up as a sticky (hint hint).

Speaking of reference, grabs of the non-remastered DVD issue can be found here (http://media.bladezone.com/contents/film/image-library/image_library.php), along with heaps of other nerdy Bladrunner minutae. Enjoy.
