Hey Guys,
I am doing this one for my college final project. Here is my shot description:

Singapore, the year is 2075, with huge advancement of Information technology Singapore has been transformed into hi-tech mega city. The limited land space and increase in population has compelled development of city towards more heights and breaths.

The city is thickly occupied with high rises till the far horizon with diverse architectural structures influenced by both modern as well as traditional cultural designs. The city has transformed itself into an entertainment hub for the tourist with casinos, hotels and vivid street cultural. The city’s development is hugely overshadowed by mega Corporations and state government. Globalization is at its peak and society is mixed with different ethnic groups. Policing and control of citizens is very high in the society and there are considerable amount of divisions in society depending upon the wealth and status. Division in the society based on classes has reflected in the structural development of city.

Here is footage I shot(unfortunately I shot the HD footage in low light resulting in noisy and blurry footage , anyway since its my college project I am rushing it with what I got)

clean plate

Mattepainting

There is good amount of camera lens distortion and some perspective issues. I am leaving distortion as it is and trying to tweak perspective more to get some more depth..

I changed the lower part with Photograph I got anyway my final camera mapping will be done with noisy footage.. this is jus for the sake of mattepainting...

Please give me your valuable comments...

hey welcome to this forums! nice work !! I love working and watching sci fi night cityscapes, I think you did a great job on the mood and integration, great attention to detail as well, a lot of details to look at, I like the composition and flow of the city , looks very realistic, the big issues I see is perspective, some of the buildings are off, take a deeper look into that issue and this will kick ass!!, I really like how you made it look really big, nice depth and sense of scale, it would be great to see this animated, and I would definetely replace the footage ocean with a CG ocean and you will have a complete CG shot that will look photorealsitic, also all those billboards would look awesome animated, I know it would be so much work but hey if u do it, it will be a kick as shot for a demo reel,
with some little blur to the whole image ( just to take out that sharp and perfect CG edges ) and some film grain this is a complete cinema feel shot

keep it up !!

Thanks a lot man for your comment and appreciation. Actually your Thekno City mattepainting was one of my source of inspiration for this mattepainting, espeically the atmosphere and lighting :)

About the perspective issues, can you please be more elaborate on the same because I am kind of stuck with that since there is good amount of lens distortion in this plate and I had decided not to remove it but rather match new elements with lens distortion present in the original plate.

I am still not sure what to with lower part since footage I shot is very low in quality. I will try to fix footage and add some reflections and if that doesn't work I will definitely think about other options like going CG. But after submitting for college I would try replacing the footage with CG for my demo reel ;)

I did small update on the image after your comments, added more reflection and depth on water, added noise and depth of flied. Please check it out.

Anyway I feeling really great to receive your appreciation since I you were my source of inspiration.

Thanks,
Rahul

On the perspective issue: everything that's vertical should be distorted similarily when compared to neighbouring objects. The most disturbing parts of this are the buildings on the sides of the image. If you compare the plate's buildings to ones tou have added, they just don't match. The plate is heavily distorted at the edges, but the buildings you have added have straight vertical lines. Match these, and you'll be a lot closer to photorealistic image.

As it comes to image as a whole, I think it is well executed and has all the potential to become a wicked piece of work.

very nice , I like it ,though I think you could have spent some time working in some of the numerous adds you have there, some animated lighting or some other like changing / animating images on billboards would have made it more dynamic, well done
keep it up !

Thanks James I am glad you liked it, Yeah animated billboards would have made it more dynamic but I was really short on time for this one.. If I get some time later after all this I will try add those too :)
