Looks good, somewhat Neon Genesis Evangelion like. But I see you're making a classical error. You get engrossed in details before you put the foundation down. I do it too, so I recognize it. You run the risk of not having a solid overall look / feel, faulty lighting or no fall out from the light source(s) or no specific light source giving a flat result. I suggest you do some quick, shape defining work first, maybe already incorporating color. When the foundation's solid, you can get engrossed in all the little details for as much and long as you like afterwards.

This is what i have so far. Added a background, and filled in the rest of the figure with basic light and shadow.

Man, i've had no time to work on this until thanksgiving with school and all, but this is what i've gotten done.
I changed the back ground a bit and added a blue tint to it as well as changing the orange to blue.

Finished some rendering on the left shoulder of the mech.

Now i finished the upper body and croped the image a bit while i added some to the right hand side of the canvas.

Ok, here are some close ups at the shoulder and arm:

and the arm.

And there you go. I need some thoughts on what i should do to the backgound.
