I was just wondering if you can assign different textures to the different colours in a ramp shader?

I thought I would get a faster response from posting here than testing it myself!!

Thanks, Ell.

yeah you can, just middle mouse drag the texture from hypershade onto the color in the ramp in the attribute editor. Im not sure if you can do it with shaders, but you can do it with textures.

I don't know if you can do it with 4.5's ramp shader but in 4.0 you can load the out color of other shaders into the ramp effectively letting you mix different shading models.

True, in 4.5, hehe i also found a way to animate the outputs on the Ramp using MEL. I use this to make the pupils in my character's eyes grow or shrink :buttrock:

Select output of ramp, move it up or down and key it, then open Scrip Editor, copy all those commands to shelf, then undo... now you have a button that controls the ramp's output. Repeat as many times as you want, just be careful not to overlap or switch the outputs as you could get unexpected results!

MaYa has limitless posibilities, you can hook any periferal to any of the origional ramp's outputs!
