I am currently working on an enviornment of a forest and was wondering what the best way to achieve a nice texturing of the ground as far as foliage like fern leaves, grass, dirt and little pebbles. As of right now all I plan to do is texture the ground with dirt, have a bump map and for the grass and foliage I plan to use alpha maps and then the texture.
Just wondering if there are any tips or tricks that would make texturing more efficent or if there is something missing that I should know about. Also as far as the grass and foliage go, is there anything that I need to know about laying the foliage and grass out on the planes like a good method of there placement in photoshop or maya.
