View Full Version : Anti-warping a bitmap texture to avoid spherical pinching?
Navstar 11-01-2007, 05:57 PM I have a two part question. I have a flat 2D bitmap texture I'm wrapping around a sphere. As to be expected, there is extreme pinching at the poles and the there is X distortion around the equator.
So...
A) Is there a better, less distorted projection method for getting a flat image on a sphere?
B) Is there a way to "inverse pre-warp" my bitmap in Photoshop or After Effects so that when it is wrapped, the distortion is reduced or eliminated?

Looks great (and free is always rad!), but it's Windows only. :(
Any Mac solutions?

Spooky. This is the first one I checked using Google. (Link) (http://www.maxoncomputer.com/tutorial_detail.asp?tutorialID=54&site=)
They seem to know what they are talking about. :D
HTH, cheers, Alan.

Use the spherical tool in Photoshop. No need for plug-in.
