Sorry if this is really simple, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm creating a sequence where I show glass shattering and flying towards the camera.

At a specific point in time the action freezes (matrix style) and the camera moves through the frozen shards of glass.

I want to add smaller glass fragments using a particle emitter, but don't know if and how to freeze these partcicles at a specific point so we can travel through them as if stationary in mid air.

Any advice (constructive if poss) would be greatly appreciated

If you use thinking particles then this is possible using the PFreeze node. You can animate the freeze parameter, so the particles ease into their frozen state.

 Thanks Tim

Should have thought of that!! - only just got that module, so not had a chance to use it.

You've saved the day

Sounds like PFreeze is the way to go, but just for giggles, you could have done it the way they did in the matrix: place several cameras (along the desired path), each taking one shot, then sequence each of those shots together to create the illusion.

Or do a mixture of both by using DT (Delta Time) to modify not the real speed but the "timeflow" for particles.
