I don't remember any sea monsters in that story. Of course I haven't read it since highschool a long time ago.

I'm pretty sure the underwater monster is the dragon.

The sea monsters come up during a banquet which is held right before Beowulf is to take on Grendel. One of the Kings sons (I think it's a son), who is the other person swimming in the clip, is trying to deride Beowulf and tells everyone that Beowulf chickened out and swam away during this test of manhood they shared. Since he himself has not been able to defeat Grendel he is eager to discredit Beowulf.
This clip would be the portion of the conversation where Beowulf sets everyone straight about what really happened during the test.
FYI, the dragon only appears after Beowulf has returned to Gaetland, become King and grown quite a lot older.

however they got this scene animated im just gonna say one thing...
they sure didn't know anything about ocean swimming
monsters look pretty cool, but beowulf being riveted to the top part of the water while it was moving around so much took me right out of the fantasy, might be me being nitpicky but it didn't look like either of them were IN the water as much as they were RIDING ON the water.
still gonna see this movie, hopefully enough people go so that action cg can be trendy, thats all im hoping for with this movie.

It's hard enough staying afloat and stationary in water that isn't flowing or moving very much, so it's got to be almost impossible to stay above the water in stormy seas.
Also, they need to teach those guys how to swim properly; their arms were flailing all over the place. ;)
Sea Monsters and Dragons? Count me in. Despite the obvious flaws and slightly creepy characters, I'm very excited for this movie.

This movie should have been done as a live action, IMHO.

This movie should have been done as a live action, IMHO. yeah it's crap that people try to develop these new fangled ways of doing things.

Impressive as the other trailers. I think this is going to be a neat movie.
I agree that the ocean swimming is a little strange and I am surprised they didn't catch that. maybe they'll have fixed that in the full release :)

maybe the characters are a little creepy, and maybe this is not how you swim in the stormy sea, but everybody is ok with the fact that he is trying to kill the 30 meter sea monster with somthing a little bit bigger then my kitchen knife????
looks cool to me:) i am going to see this when this is out.

i agree that it shouldve been made into live action considering the movie was, for all intents and purposes, shot twice. once on film and again on the computer seems like a waste of time, but then again zemekis gets to make the movie from his friggin couch...thats kinda cool
it would've been nice to justify animating the film by putting some sort of really unique style to it, if zemeckis didnt' wanna go into work im sure you could jerry rig up an asimo to go in for him, just put a tv monitor on the damn things face and a video camera or direct link to his house so he could watch dalies with everyone without having to leave or do anything
oh well, still hopefully it generates more cg work in different areas,
westerns, action, scifi, horror cg has so much more to explore
I really hope this movie does good and sets a new trend in CG outside of talking animals but I honestly think it will floppola!
I'm saying 6-15 million opening night.........
Just looked up the budget online
Budget$150 million
Yup it's dead! This is going to give serious CG movies a big beat down for the future. Mark my prediction.

Does anyone have a link to the clip, which is basically this Sea Monsters clip but the one that was showen during the Scream Awards on Spike? This one doesn't have all the blood, gore and monster deaths.
I can't find this thing online for the life of me and it is so funny!

I can't wait to see it in 3D.
But every clip I've seen seems to have some element in it that would get you your knuckles rapped if you did that in an assignment at animation school. I'm thinking things like arcs, weight, overlap... Some of it just seems very stiff.
I'm not expecting things to flop around like Roger Rabbit, but it looks very rigid sometimes.
Oh, well, maybe it makes more sense as a whole than it does in clips.
