Alright, so it's time to buy a new computer, which will be used for creating 3d stuff with zbrush, maya and so on (duh) aswell as playing games. Altho im not too sure on what to buy for the 5,500$ that i've saved up for. So, what kind of computer would you guys buy if its was supposed to be good for 3d/games.

Oh and.. i've already got a good flatscreen. keyboard, chasi and speaker system.

Other than that, everything will be brand new. I was kinda thinking of buying a tablet aswell. But i haven't got a clue about that either.

So help me out, please!

macpro! 8 core. Or if you don't care for dualboot. A nice dell dual xeon workstation.

If I had that much cash on hand for a new system, I'd be upgrading my display(s) to a single 30" HP, and ebaying all the old monitors.

...Zbrush you say? Well if that's the primary use maybe you should be looking at a 21" Cintiq as your primary display instead...

;-)

Post a pic when you get done buying!

21" Cintiq, which also works as a 2nd monitor as well as the best tablet money can buy.

and a BOXX computer with 2 1TB HDDs in Raid 1. either a quad-core Core2 or a fast Core2 Duo. 4-8gb or ram (depending on 32 or 64bit OS) and a nice Quaddro card.

That'd be one helluva workstation.

Game you say, then something with a SLI setup. It won’t help Maya (I’m sure you can still handle heavy scenes), but Crysis would look purtty. Also, get Sound blaster EAX, so you know when someone is sneaking behind you during FPS. Any normal Wacom tablet is good enough.

With $5,500, I would find something good to spend $4,000 on, and then drop under $1,500 on a quad-core PC.
