View Full Version : I want a job in Australia!
Scandell 04-12-2003, 06:37 AM How is the job market for a character modeler/rigger TD in Australia? I have always wanted to move there...and well i would like to know how large the CG job market is over there.
I am currently in Utah.

Go to www.Sumea.com.au there are links to all the game companies there.
Microforte is hiring at the moment, as is THQ. I imagine you may find EA is also looking.
Generally Australia is a great chance to get to the top quickly, as the majority of serious talent takes off into the film industry pretty quickly (hey, LORD of the RINGs and King Kong, who can blame us)
One warning... The industry is just small enough that you dont want to f**k around... bad press from one company pretty much wipes your chances at the others.

i always have wondered if New Zealanders and Aussies got along. Are you considered sister countries? How are general relations? Is one nation considered inferior? I dont mean to start a fight...but i just want to know.

Let's just say that when someone leaves New Zealand to go to Aussie, the average IQ in both countries goes up
We are very much sister countries, very similar in many respects, and there is a great deal of friendly rivalry between the two esp. sports - and all the jokes that go along with that. I think it's fair to say we see each other as equals, no poor-cousin mentality on either side of the Tasman (get your maps out) except amongst the usual immature social dorks you find anywhere.
New Zealand used to get a bit lost internationally being smaller, but then many Americans can't find their own state on a map, so go figure :) Peter Jackson has put us on the map in this industry, anyway!

some co workers would probably testify to that, but we also have a few ppl from the gold coast here now as well, that would argue it
