This has got to be an easy issue. Bascially I am doing a 3d rotate on a model, however 2 polygons r flickering. So its a cyclinder object which 2 squares have cut into on opposite ends. Now 1 side renders fine and the other flickers. The normals look fine, and I realigned them just to make sure, but its still flickering. Am I missing something really simple. Is there any suggestions why these polygons would be doing this?

hmm not sure what you mean by flickering,is this rendered with radiosity with settings that are to low? Maybe its the phong angle? WOuld need ot see an example for a better idea.

run optimize on the mesh in case you have any double poly's make sure that there's not another object at exactly the same position.

beyond that, radiosity or very fine procedural textures used at all?

No there wasn't any overlapping polys. I fixed it by just deleting the offending polys and rebuilding it by hand with the bridge tool. Its perhaps not the prettiest solution, but it solved the problem. I was just wondering what would cause this to occurr. I thought it would be good to know what would cause such a thing.:wavey: I would provide an example if I could K. ,but have never had luck posting stuff on here due to the file size limitations.

I wonder if it's possible that the normals were reversed, although that normally (ugh) won't affect a render.
