View Full Version : spline wrap + null movement
robotbob 10-31-2007, 02:39 PM hey there
i have a mesh object being offset down a spline by a mograph spline wrap - inside the mesh object is a set of randomly moving nulls i am using for compositing effects in after effects.
but these nulls are not effected by the spline wrap offset so my question is
can you get non geometry objects such as cloners or emitters to be effected by a spline wrap?
cheers

No, there needs to be geometry for deformation to occur (that is the case with any deformer in Cinema 4D). Cloners have geometry (unless you're cloning lights/nulls) and therefore will deform fine, particle geometry can also be deformed. If you just want the axis to deform then use the Matrix Object and then clone your lights etc on that, the Matrix Object allows you to deform just axis, you can use it to deform particles themselves (without deforming their geometry), generate lights affected by deformation (clone lights onto the matrix object) and many other tasks with deformers.

thankyou per.
on a side note i am finding spline wrap can perform a kind of stuttering movement ( offset ) down the spline. when this happens i switch to path deformer which always perfectly offsets down same uniform b spline.
ill look into it further and post again but has anyone else had thins problem with spline wrap ?
cheers
