Everything is done in 3d. It actually is the first human body I have ever modelled. I am still learning and thanks to forums like this I am learning faster. I wish more people could comment but I kinda know were the weak points in the image are.

I think your rendering is superb! It was hard for me to tell if it was infact 3d, and now that i see it is i like it even more. I dont know if that was intentional, but i really like how you've put it together. I think the head could be improved a bit (maybe add some more geometry so that it smooths out a little more). The hat could also get a little more lovin around the edges. But other than that Hella Good Job for your first go at it.

I agree with you, the head is too simple and the cloth texture doesn't really show much. The hat needs and bit of scratching too.
The intention was to avoid the cg effect we all hate and that's that.

Nice try again, but flashy colors and a artsy name wont cover this modeling,

and actually try texturing it with purpose
