Well... this is something... um either really smart or just really odd:

The story is here (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=802&e=1&cid=599&u=/nm/20030411/media_nm/media_universal_dc)

First paragraph:

Apple in Talks to Buy Universal Music

By Reshma Kapadia and Sue Zeidler

NEW YORK/LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Apple Computer Inc. is in talks to buy the world's largest record company, Universal Music Group, from Vivendi Universal, a source close to the matter said on Friday, in a deal that could transform the music industry.

It probably won't change much:

Apple - Marketing driven, all products look the same
Pop Music - Marketing driven, all products look & sound the same

Record companies might actually learn to accept the future and learn new ways to profit off their products rather than fighting it trying to use the same old archaic ways and suing everyone for it. Hopefully if one lable makes an example all the others will follow.
