View Full Version : avi out of sync on quictime

i just found out that all my movie(avi) files are out of sync when i played it on macbook
using frontrow or quicktime 7.2
all fine when using vlc..but that mean i cant use frontrow
is it a bug ot limitation on quicktime or what?
any suggestion?

it's a normal divX flaw that can happen.
try using Perian plugin for quicktime, might help

using vbr mp3 encoded audio often causes this issue.

i am using perian on mac..still got the same issue both with cbr nor vbr
other ideas?

what codecs are you using for both video and audio? Also are you changing the framerate, like 25 to 30?

the file is a music video rip off of a dvd
here's what i got from the file property..
Video: XVID 640x256 23.98fps 1194Kbps [Video 0]
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 44100Hz stereo 168Kbps [Audio 1]
there are others with different codec aswell..videos i downloaded off the web, they're all offsync (i mean most of em)
do you a good free encoder to convert them so it will guaranteed play fine on quicktime?or any codec spec that should be followed?

My guess your framerate is wrong. 23.98 is for film, but most music videos are shot at 29.97(30df).

funny thing is i have other file with this..
Video: XVID 624x352 23.98fps 1014Kbps [Video 0]
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 48000Hz stereo 121Kbps [Audio 1]
and it plays fine:shrug:
