Hi,
I'm a graduate researcher in a graphics lab working on fluid simulations(Basically, I am working on volumetric techniques represented as a discretized 3D grid). However, in terms of rendering (which unfortunately for me alot of conferences require these days to even have a chance at acceptance), I am not very knowledgeable. What is a common (and hopefully free on a graduate student's budget) way to render example frames of my simulations, e.g. on many of Fedkiw's papers in Siggraph? Is it basically extracting an isosurface from the grid(voxels) and using a standard raytracer to render the scene? I'm unfortunately very unknowledgeable in terms of rendering packages (working mostly on numerical simulations), so I would very much appreciate any help.
Thanks very much in advance.
