Currently, I have my processor's Cool N Quiet capabilities turned off, as I do overnight renders and I don't want the processor to clock down while rendering. But I'm wondering if this is really something to be concerned about at all, if it's possible to have Cool N Quiet active AND have the processor going full tilt overnight for those long renders, as long as there is rendering to be done. Anyone have experience with this?

intel Speedstep should not be a problem either way in the case of mutlithreaded rendering.

When the CPU is under full (or nearly full) utilization, the Speedstep functionality lets the processor run at full power.

Only when Idle (or near idle) does the Speedstep functinoality kick in and reduce power/cycles on the chip.
