Michael Kass is a Senior Scientist at Pixar Animation Studios where he developed a clothing simulator with David Baraff and Andrew Witkin that was used in "Monsters Inc.," "The Incredibles" and "Ratatouille." With Baraff and Witkin, he received a 2005 Scientific and Technical Academy Award for "Pioneering work in physically-based computer-generated techniques used to simulate realistic cloth in motion pictures."

Dr. Kass received his B.A. from Princeton in 1982, his M.S. from M.I.T. in 1984, and his Ph. D. from Stanford in 1988. Dr. Kass has received numerous awards for his research on physically-based methods in computer graphics and computer vision including several conference best paper awards, the Prix Ars Electronica for the image "Reaction Diffusion Texture Buttons," and the Imagina Grand Prix for the animation "Splash Dance."

Before joining Pixar in 1995, Dr. Kass held research positions at Schlumberger Palo Alto Research and Apple Computer.

This sonds great!

But what is the connection between syflex and Pixar?
This sort of leads us to believe that there is some connection...

There is no connection between Pixar and Syflex.

Syflex was generous enough to help financially sponsor the meeting and agree to a product give away of their software.

We felt that since the topic of the meeting was cloth this was an on-topic sponsorship.

It sounds like and amazing event and sponsor is spot on. :applause:
I wish I could see it... :sad:
(I sort of hoped they will announce some sort of cooperation...)
