As far as i know you cant se anything above 72 dpi as long as it's on the screen.. At the bureau i work at we use 280 dpi for off set printing (i would use 300 but I'm not the AD'er so it's not my decition).
But theres still somewhat a difference from 300 to 600. So was just wondering why.. :)
By the way, I almost forgot to say: Great work, it's really nice.. I like the "mystical mood" in particular, don't know how to describe it better :p

for prints - sure , 300 dpi is more than you need ,but remeber we creating here digital painting and people just looooooove to zooming in until they see 1-pixel size detail on their screens ,for that reason pictures here are bigger and bigger and i don't think it will ever stop . check out other artowrks here you will notice 7000-9000 pixels in dimention is a common.

Ye offcause, a high resolution is great to work with (my pc doesn't like it though) :P
But if you create an 800x600px file in 1 dpi and an 800x600px file in 300 dpi, you'll get an img with the exact same lvl of detail. 1 pixel is 1 pixel. However..:
If you print a 1 dpi picture, 1 pixel will become 1 inch wide and 1 inch high.
if you print a 600 dpi picture, 1 pixel will become 1/600 inch wide and 1/600 inch high.
So basically you can say that the dpi value decides how big 1 px is in reality, or how many pixels I want on 1 inch when printing my picture.
