CGTalk - Cool text effects

Hey,
I'm new to Maya, but I really want to learn how to use it.

My question is how to make cool texteffects in Maya.
I'm talking about the effect you always see in movies before the actually movie starts (where they display the director, main actors, etc.)

Does anyone know good links to tutorials on how to do this or even better: has any open source for me?

I do all my text in Maya.. What I do is I make each letter a rigid body and then I use feilds to make them spin in and out and stuff. Then in After Effects or any compositing program, I take my rendered frames of the animation and reverse them so that it looks like the text is all jumbled up at first, and then it all flies into place.

Then to add more to it I usually keyframe the glow effect on the shader that I've put on my text.

Just a couple ideas :p
