Title: Cave
Name: David Bodenstein
Country: Ireland
Software: 3ds max, mental ray, Photoshop

This image was inspired by a tutorial I did recently. I used bitmaps to create the textures of the cave walls and ground underneath which I have collected. They are macro shots of various rocks and pebbles mainly Granite.
The contrast of the water and rock was what really interested me most about making this scene and the intense light at the end flooding everything with light.
Tone and lighting was tweaked in Photoshop to create some more depth especially where the water meets the rock walls of the cave.

Very good... I liked the lighting

But I think that you should make the stones smaller

The cave shouldn't be so bright. It's like some kind of luxury man made cave...

the two preivious comments have valid points-

the texture u ave on the floor is way too highly scaled which is a shame as your wall texture is just right

secondly you have a light source from behind the camera which is wrong unless there is lighting coming from inside the cave!turn this off and use a bit of GI instead-the light coming from the other end will give it much more of a "cave" feel

Hay.
Sorry for not replying sooner, thanks Eral1, IPX and ST3 for the comments. I have made another render which is closer to home and posted it earlier today. I totaly agree with your comment but it is meant to be lit from behind. I tried another rendering with the stones scaled down looks much better.
All the best guys.
