View Full Version : Photoreal:100 Zip Disk
Atariman5000 04-11-2003, 10:38 AM Well, I always see people modeling pins for fun. I thought I would try something different. So, I modeled a PC100 Zip disk. I then did some exporting, importing, exporting, importing, exporting, and importing to get the look you see. To better understand, click the link below and read my comments below the zip disk picture.

Good work so far, but if you want to achieve photorealism youll have to bevel the edges of your model.
All objects in real world have a certain degree of bevel in its edges that will reflect light, even the sharper ones.
You might hardly noteice them, but your brain will know the difference.
That's why you sometimes look at a CG pic (even an execelent modelled and textured one) and will say for sure: this is CG and not a real picture, even though you can't expalin what's wrong.
That and the imperfections on the surfaces (among others). Nothing in real world is THAT clean and perfect as you see for example in raytracing pics.
Best regards.
