hi guys, just testing one of my models with GI for a non flicker animation. Accuracy is set to 100% so luckely i think it looks acceptable.

sorry about the small size only i have limited upload facilities :)

How long did it take you to render this animation ??
I'm still experimenting with the radiosity settings, but i usual just give up because of the huge render time it consumes..

By the way the movie looks great !!!:applause:

anim settings -

640x480 px

strength - 100%
accuracy - 100%
pre pass - 1/2
diff depth - 1
stoch samp - 100
min res - 50
max res - 75
recompute - always

frames - 750.

i recently got a new xeon pc, so high gi rendering is now within my grasp for deadline work.

this took about 2-3 mins per frame, so somewhere between a day and a day and a half.

I'm currently working on a walkthrough of a small "city plan" And i'm still thinking about using radiosity..
But I think i have to ask my boss to buy me a new Apple if he wants the best result...:hmm:

With your settings at a resolution of 320x240 it still took me about 20 min to render just one frame...

strat to get rid of the flicker render with Stochastic instead, in 8.1 stochastic has some extra features to render faster now, and hes no flickering

kai - ur right, but even with the new features it's still a fair bit slower than normal mode.

So now i have to ask my boss for a new Apple... and an upgrade to Cinema R8 !! (still working with 7.3 ..:annoyed: )

I don't think he likes that...:hmm:
