these look great, lovely composition, great feeling especially for quick sketches.
what to fix, what to fix, what to fix....
maybe up the res on the ballon one (thats my fave of the two) and show us what you can do with some detail in the face. but i guess thats not a fix rather a "next step".

very nice.

Thank you nathan, feedback is so precious nowadays. I'll perhaps detail those concepts a bit...Also - I've seen some great sketches in your sketchbook, you have really nice lines. Hope to get more critical posts from you. cheers.

You're very welcome mate. It's really hard to crit the good stuff but yeah, I would love to see some detail but still keeping that rough "speed paint" look you have.
I want to look at more of your work but your website doesnt load and I can't see the gorilla one or the speed paints. Show me more! (your Journey Begins entry is freak'n awesome by the way!) :)

Also, maybe I could get some crit from you for this piece i'm working on here:

I'm not sure where it's going but would love some input from a skilled painter like yourself. No ones giving it any love :(

cheers ears.

P.S. would you be interested in a game of paint tennis? I've never tried it but it sounds fun.

yeah, my home page is down for a while, got to fix some problems - I'll get back to it. Most of speedpaints were linked from there, so they're also lost.
About paint tennis - what you mean exactly ? :)

Paint tennis, I don't think its a perticularly new idea but I don't see it happenening often, in fact, I can say I've only ever seen "design/photoshop tennis" which is more graphic design based.
I guess what would happen is someone starts off with a quick 10 minute speed paint, it can be anything, abstract/structured/minimal/etc... he posts it up, the other guy adds his bit to it, and reposts. The result is an on-going collaborative piece that gets more interesting with each step. We carry on untill we both agree its finished, or whenever.

But we can make up the rules. for example:

- Maybe we only spend a maximum of one day per turn, a repost must be returned with 24 hours of the last post.

- We can attach the PSD so we adjust layers, or keep it flat.

- We each have a set amount of turns.

- Could make it competitve and invite people to comment and judge on the best reposts, etc...

What do you think? What rules would you like?
This must have been done before but i'm not sure I see the evidence.

Very expressive brushwork! I quite like your new brush. I haven't really looked at creating custom brushes seriously yet. Hmm, something for the weekend I guess.

Keep it up! I too would like to see a high res version of the girl with the balloon. A few more definitions here and there and some (hopefully not overrendered) details would make for a great painting I think.

nathan: any progress ? :)
RicoD: thanks man, try to mix some brushes with dual brush option (it can give marvelous effects sometimes), here's something new:
