View Full Version : Roto someone from a video?
dax3d 04-10-2003, 10:00 PM Hi,
I would like to rotoscope someone from one video so I can layer them onto another video.
What tool would be best to do this? Commotion? Combustion?
I have heard very highly of Commotion for this type of thing, but now I'm hearing Combustion might be better?
thanks for any feedback

I think both are good to do the job...
There is no magic wand for rotoscoping just a lot of work
no matter what package.
Thats just my opinion..

Ok, thanks for the response.
I'll have to find what I'm comfortable with.

Commotion has much nicer roto/paint tools, but the they still only support 8 bit/channel color hence the reason for people moving to combustion(supports upto float). People are increasingly using 16bit and float on film and even some television. Commotion is a nicer tool if you only need 8 bit color(your using video, so 8 bit is all you probably have).

Yes, I'm using video and 8-bit is all I have right now. I'm just experimenting right now and didn't know which package to use in the future. I will try the demos of Commotion and see how it works out.
thank you
