Looks like it's gonna be good!
Aw, is there a low resolution version somewhere? I didn't even bother downloading it since there's that ~1ghz warning (only 500mhz here).

ok, now that made me want to go and see it... up till now i've been dubious, but this time it looked awesome... hehe, all you need to get me juices going is a few decent explosions, some kung fu, lots of lens flares, cg robot's, good soundtrack... heh **** the story... sad of me i know, but i'm a sucker every time.

That scene where the agent jumps on the car really bothers me, I watched it frame-by-frame in the high-res version, and it really screams CG. I dunno, I'm a hardcore matrix-fan, I'm worried they might have bitten off more then they can chew with all the CG characters.
What's with the ring-wraith esque twins.:curious:
oh please don't suck.....pretty please......:argh:
still some of those scenes rock ass...can I say ass on CGtalk?

i heard the game "enter the matrix" (due may 15) is like on 6 cds...and the guy who made the fighting for the movie and everything worked on the game also...
they put a couple of mills in the game and they have to sell quite a lot of copies to even pay for what they spent...
i'm eagerly waiting for that...:buttrock:

That was a BADASS trailer. The one part I wasn't impressed was when Neo was fighting all those agent smiths. It seemed horribly obvious that it was CG. I'm sure it will kick ass, though.
Does anybody know the story (link maybe) behind the ghostly twins?

Nice trailer, I agree. But I just couldnt keep myself from watching the whole movie frame by frame....and I said *WTF OMG LOL?*
Some scenes look REALLY CG, (and not only in frame by frame) There's that special "Brazil clay" look on everything rendered.
Some things have very strange shadows, too bright, so the objects really don't fit in (last truck in motorcycle chase scene).
And what's with the monkey boy jumping on the car? Monkey? yes, cause his arms are way too long...and big.
And what is that thing blowing out on the sides of the car? Pillows? Certinly doesnt look like glas.
And Albino-Afrikan-Ghosts? a.k.a AAG. I'm really conserned that the twin AAg's will ruin alot. They are viruses? Comon....could have been done alot better then that...
Er....maybe I should stop myself before everyone jumps me :p
I just hope someone wont say "well if your so damn good at flaming the CG, do better yourself!" I can't....
...but I'm gonna LOVE this movie!

this trailer look so cool... :buttrock:
and btw... since the action is inside a virtual world... well... I say... they are in a CG world... so if something look cg... I dont care... because... IT IS CG... the whole world is suposed to be cg... :p
my opinon...
whatever...

Indeed, the multi-Smith fighting scene and the highway scene looks CG. I don't care much about that by now though, I just want to watch it!
BTW, I think they have at least twisted the agent car-jumping scene a little. Comparing this scene in the final trailer to that of the Superbowl trailer, I found that not only the timing has changed, but also the motion and shadow.
This is a sample frame from the Superbowl trailer:
http://www.ticoneva.com/~ticoneva/matrix_sb.jpg
This this the same frame (comparing the environment; more specifically, the pattern on the concrete wall) from the final trailer:
http://www.ticoneva.com/~ticoneva/matrix_fl.jpg
The change in the motion of the agent is obvious. But also notice the truck on the overhead bridge at the top right corner; its position changed also (acutally the viewing angle of the camera changed) . This seems to indicate that the agent and the overhead bridge (and possibly the whole scene) is 3D.

How come can't i view it properly?!

sure that multi-Smith effect looks fake. it IS fake. I couldn't imagine being able to have a scene as conceptually mind-blowing as that and keep it looking real. even if it looked 100% authentic, it would still register as "fake" due to the sheer impossibility of what you were seeing.
congrats to all those involved in the creation of those effects. you guys have done an amazing job with the shots in the trailers so far. can't wait to see the rest of the stuff you've come up with.

I need a change of pants.
Having said that, there is a scene that dissappoints me. In the final shot of Trinity firing up as she falls from the building, her body looks a little shaky-- As if her body was just scaled and dragged in after effects with a bad camera move match. I wish it was a little more flowing.

At first, (long time ago) I was thining, How are they going to continue it? Who the new story they'll come up with be as good. Well, as I was straightened out, I will do the same for you. The Martix was writen as a Trilogy. THey didnt have to streach the story to come up with the next two movies. SOOO... The next two movies should have a story just as good if not better.
Just incase you were thinking it wasnt going to.
Great Trailer. Little choppy though. Did anyone notice they changed the SuperBowl Trailer? Now I no some of those scenes weren't in there before.

As you would expect, it looks like a lot of great CG work from a team of very talented people.
As a film. I just hope it isn't "action packed" to the point it is oversaturated to the detriment of acting, performance, story, etc. When that happens, I find things really dull.
More of the same, particularly a LOT more of the same can get real DULL real FAST. Anyone for Batman and Robin with the good old Joel Schumacher action fest?
Did anyone see that series on advertising hosted by Dennis Hopper? Its like the point that was made about finding something shocking. When shocking becomes the context, it is no longer shocking. The same goes for action, excitement, etc.
Don't get me wrong. I don't want to be the party pooper, I just would have been even MORE impressed if they had NO bullet time in matrix 2 and 3 and gone some other way.
Also, part of me is trying to really lower my expectations so I can enjoy the film more. Its great when a film takes you by surprise, like the first matrix did.

It friggin rocked......sweet jumping monkey nuts. I am so looking forward to the 15th of May. I agree that a few parts still feel kinda CG but you know what...??? I can deal with it. This looks so damn good that those few things are easily forgivable.
I cannot begin to guess how many damn times I will watch and rewatch this trailer until the movie comes out.

Watching stuff frame by frame is inherently flawed in my opinion. Why? Because you don't watch stuff frame by frame unless you are being overly anal and picky. The only frame by frame viewing of something should be done by its creators, not by viewers. That's just my 2 cents on that though.
Howzat
04-11-2003, 06:18 AM
Awesome...
I pity the people (not really ;) ) that know too much about 3D and compositing because if you were as ignorant as me you could just enjoy it for what it is, a great ride of a movie!
Having said that, I don't think this movie has any chance of being as good as the first in terms of story, even though it is part of a trilogy. I found the first movie mind blowing in that it really got the cogs turning in my brain trying to figure out what was going on. I just don't think that's going to be possible in the second and third, these next movies will just have to try to do the action film thing really really well. Which going by these trailers it looks like it is going to r0X0rs

If I've not mistaken, Silver said they spent 20 million on the game...
I am not really a gamer, but this will most DEFINITELY be a purchase... as well as many repeat theatrical viewings.
I better start budgeting now...

I'm guessing this is aimed at me. i watched it frame by frame because it looked so lame when i watched it at normal speed. I wanted to see which frame turned it from sweet :buttrock: to lame . cause you gotta admit, he looks like a great ape.
Anyway, i'm not overly anal, nor am I picky. I just fear the worst for the sequel to my all time favourite movie.
-Kol.
EDIT: "Enter the Matrix" is the title of the game.
The Wachowskis shot an extra hour of footage for the game with SFX and all, apperantly it follows some subplot and adds a lot to the story.

Oh... my.... goodness.....
I have been having a really hard time being impressed by trailers lately:
The 2 Towers trailer you all orgasmed over - it was "OK"
The previous Matrix: Reloaded trailer: "OK"
The Terminator 3 trailer: SUCKS!
The Pirates of the Carribean-trailer: SUCKS!
The Tomb Raider 2 trailer: SUCKS!
But hands down, this is where I have to give in... I too, had my adrenalin pumped... I'm officially hyped now...
Anyway, I'll also say something related to this:

Ahhh, ye ole frame-by-frame issue... KWAK, while this trailer knocked my socks off clean, I know exactly how you feel.
Studying visual effects shots intensely, absorbing every microscopic detail, is one of the curses that comes with being into visual effects, CG and animation.
So we spot a flaw... or don't spot a flaw... so we go frame-by-frame to see where it goes wrong... and we are called geeks for studying it frame by frame.
So be it, we are geeks, but there is nothing loser-ish about studying visual effects frame-by-frame! For chrissakes, it's in any animator's nature, isn't it???! What animator doesn't study his own work frame by frame? And why should it be "prohibited" to do so with other people's work?
Particularly in this forum, I just don't understand the lack of understanding towards visual effects-interested people who study professional visual effects... :surprised
Best regards to everyone,

if you guys really wanna get analytical on this trailer, instead of watching the FX frame-by-frame, why don't you try watching it backwards?
I've heard that's they way many animators determine if their animation holds up to reality. supposedly, you can pick up flaws in the motion better.
