View Full Version : Adjusting Zoom/View tools?
Navstar 10-22-2007, 05:05 PM Three easy questions about zooming.
First, is there a general purpose zoom marquee tool (like in Photoshop or ElectricImage)? I want to draw a rectangle in my viewport and have my view zoom to that. Frame Scene and Frame Active Objects is good for many uses, but a marquee zoom would be more helpful in some situations.
Secondly, is there a way to adjust how coarse or fine my mouse wheel zooms? It goes in big chunks right now.
Third, is there a way to bookmark views like in Maya?
Also (oops, I guess that's four questions!) -- is there a way to make a Scene Camera from your current Editor Camera view? I have a angle set up perfectly in my Editor Camera and I want C4D to clone that view to a new Scene Camera.

1.) No idea.
2.) No idea.
3. + 4.) Well, this is how I create scene cameras: I have the "Create Camera Object" as an icon in my layout. Now everytime I have an interesting POV with my editor view, I just click on that icon and a camera is being created with exactly that POV attributes.
Now, when I'm done with creating different POVs, I choose the one I wnat to be rendered and choose "use as render view" (I made a shortcut alt+r for that, way faster for me)

hi
when you use zooming, use the alt+right mouse bouton (alt+RMB), it gives more controle!
and when you use a camera dont forget to make him a protection tag! this help you to fix it!
hope this help

1)yes use the magnification tool, allows drawing a marquee that it zooms to
2)sadly no in 10.5 you can modify viewport rotation zoom and move speed, but I the wheel seems unaffected by this.
3)With R10 maxon has added a lot of bookmarking for different managers but funny enough nothing for the viewport itself

Sorry, I should have been clearer. How do I make a *Target Camera* clone my current Editor Cam view?
So if the mouse wheel zoom cannot be adjusted, is there a way to turn zooming off? My Microsoft Natural Mouse has an unusually sensitive wheel where the slightest accidental touch will send my viewport into fits.

excuse me if i dont understand well, but i think that the camera when you add it to your scene it takes the view you're using in perspective.
and about the camera, i think that you should create more cameras object and make them a protection tag ;)

I can adjust the mouse wheel zoom on my MAC through system preferences—using a Logitech Mx laser mouse.

Ah perfect! Just what I was looking for. Thank you!
I notice there are a number of tools when I search for "Magnify" in the command manager. Just curious -- what's the one with a texture icon?
(so many tools with the same name. Like "Scene> Sky" and "Sky" are completely different. oy!)
