View Full Version : Visible Light Inner Distance Problem

I trying to make a lighthouse beam, using a visible light. I want the beam to start larger than a point, but can't get anything other than the light starting as a point.

The "inner distance" setting LOOKS like it would make the visible light beam start away from the light source, making the light beam start as a wider cross section.

But the "inner distance" has no effect. Is there another lighting option that must be activated to have the light beam start farther from the light source?

Near Clippng didn't do anything either...

I could try putting the light in a object and casting shadows, but can the visible light start a set distance down the beam? Inner distance looks like it SHOULD do it, but nada...

ugh... Anything I'm missing? Seems like such a basic thing... Thanks for any pointers!

Update... Sorry, the Near Clip did the trick... set both to the same meter length. I must have had some conflicting settings somewhere, but a new, simple light test found clipping produces the effect.
