why does maya create such weird results in the textures when smoothing? almost always,after modeling and mapping,at level 0,setting every uv perfectly and checking the map with a checker in the topology,the smoothed geometry distorts my texture(checker)in some places a very little distortion,and in other places a noticeable distortion.Is there a way to fix it?

try the clean poly tool under the polygon menu not edit polygon menu.

that is if you are having the same problem that I am thinking of
or you can, under the smooth node, change the smooth type to the one that is not leniar(I dont know what that one is called but there are only 2 choices so it shouldn't be that hard to figure out)
