Man I can't wait to see this one done, See if you can get an almost chamelion like shine to the scales, that would be awesome!

Sova: Thank you. I am too.

Lordrych: Me too. I'll see what I can do. :-) The final render will probably be done in blender.

Just had a bit of time this morning to do the fingers and toes. Going to add the webbing later. I almost ready...

Looking really good! The topology is looking nice as well. Be careful with that thumb, it looks kinda misplaced, and for the other fingers, it could use a bit more polys.

As for the design itself, i have some crits if you dont mind. Thing is, I think it looks a bit too much like concepts ive seen before. I mean, its good, but honestly I'd like to see something a bit more experimental with him, somethin that would add to the character's originality. Perhaps going on the same direction, but adding some more stuff, or changin proportions or something to get it to really pop out.

Hope you didnt mind the crits! Keep up the good work! :)

Cool work so far, I really want to see this finished!

I have to agree with ZeroCartin though, the design is a bit "already done" and could use some individual enhancements.

Cheers!

That's lookingt great! I think it might look better if you pushed the head forward a little and increased the size of the traps and lats like in the concept drawing. good luck! can't wait to see it sculpted!

I will tell you what, I love your concept and I think your way of pushng the envelope will be with the textures on this guy. I mean you can try to go all crazy and make him all different and new, but at the same time, this is a solid concept.

Sometimes the classic though a bit overused and placent, Are still really cool to see done in 3d. I would say go for it and blow us all away! And when building him up remember where most of his body will use the bulk in his arms and chest as he is part fish part man, I am not sure he will use his legs as much as his arms to swim, that and his upper body. So the suggestion to build up the traps is probably a good one!

His head is looking great! I think his hand and forearms look too flat though. I know he has webbed fingers but I think you should pronounce the digits between the webbing though. The proportions and overall aesthetic looks great! I love the dorsal fin on the top of his head! keep it up!

I didn't get much time to work on this since I had to design a website this week. But here's what I did this morning:

Wow looks very good, I love the face, almost a more piranha look to it, gives it alot of disticnt originality I like that. Can't wait for you to start putting some hard texture on this guy.

That's shaping up great! But I think the muscles look sort of carved in to larger masses. I think it might help if you treated each muscle as it's own mass and give it more depth. overall it looks good though. I can't wait to see some of those terrific colors from your concept! Keep the updates comin!

hazzadus (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=107034): you are correct, it does need a bit more polish. I will admit... I have a bit more than just the legs to do... :-) :wip:
