Hi all, can anyone provide a link to a site/forum for complete newbies with regards to Maya modelling and texturing please, I have a fair amount of Photoshop experience but want to learn about basic models and their decoration. Put it this way I have created and managed to texture a block, thats as far as it goes so far...thanks for the patience. Any advice welcome.

I guess I'll do it. People in all these forums tend to be impatient at somebody asking the SAME questions.... In this site, go to the Maya forum. There are 734 posts under the tutorials thread ("Sticky"). Go to www.highend3d.com (http://www.highend3d.com). Google Maya tutorials. Search the threads in both forums and others. There are many, many tuts out there. Oh yeah, read Maya help.

check learningmaya.com ->http://www.learningmaya.com/62-0-texturing-tutorials.html

Click the links to check but a lot seem to be broken nowadays, not quite sure why, they used to be checked often. Theres modelling and texturing categories anyway so take a look, theres still some useful starter stuff on there.

Have a look through for tutorials you think reflect your current skill level and give them a whirl (you dont need complicated models to learn the principles...infact its probably best to keep things simple and progress to more complex objects as your experience improves).

Any specific questions you should be able to get answers in this forum or the maya forum like jjdon says. Theres lots of resources out there: books/training dvds etc etc..even if cash is tight you can get stuff cheap through amazon marketplace or ebay etc. Plus theres all the tutorials floating around on websites across the net. Check out the training providers sites, they often have tutorials available for free as examples.
