Title: Prehistoric Guy
Name: Lars Martinsson
Country: Sweden
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush

Done during a Zbrush/anatomy course at my school. The mesh is done from scratch in Zbrush (although I had to fix a few topology problems in Maya). The different skin textures in the SSS shader was hand painted in Zbrush, the rest of the textures was done in Photoshop. For the hair and fur I used Shave and Haircut. Rendered with mental ray, with both a displacement map and a normal map applied.

Comments and critique are highly appreciated.

Don't know about the loin cloth, I can see its a skin with the fur inside out, but the rest of the character is great.

great character, nothing much to crit, maybe the wrist is a bit to thick and the hands could use some tweaks.

cheers,
Matthias

katana2665: I made the loincloth inside out because I wanted to keep the amount of fur down. Partly because of the render time, but mainly because I wanted to avoid the extra time it would take to tweak the whole thing. But I agree with you, would have been cooler to have the fur outward.

bobtronic: Yeah I can see now that the knuckles isn’t so well defined as they where before I posed him. I will look into the hand/wrist area a bit more. Thanks for the input.

veljko-lemonade: Thank you! Yeah I should probably have defined the lips a bit more, and made the skin texture a bit more interesting in the face. If you where thinking of something else I would be glad to hear it, always nice to get some one others view of things.

TheRazorEdge: Glad to hear you liked it! Will put up some wires right away, and get back with some close-ups in a day or two.

Visionmaster2: Thanks! Don’t have any HD renders ready to put up right now, but I will post some in a day or two.

Thanks again for the comments guys!

The wires!
