Thanks for that!

This kind of thing is a great inspiration to people like me, who also want to follow the programmer/artist route...

I'm planning on buying his book soon - really wanting to get into API stuff soon....

Do it. I bought it and its a fantastic way to get initiated into MEL and the API. Some programming experience would be optimal but not required.

BRAVO, BRAVO!!!!!
I have a new hero to look up to.:applause:
As a programmer and CG artist I loved reading his history and views. I absolutely agree that programmers should use and know there product they are writting for FIRST. And as I am learning right now all of the wonderful people here make life even better yet when designing new software/plugins.
Thank you, thank you, thank you all.

Great read, have fun!

Just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words. I'm really pleased to hear that people are getting so much out of it. I had a hunch when I started writing the book that there were a lot of people out there that wanted to learn Maya programming but simply did't know how. The overwhelming number of positive replies confirms this. Thanks again and I wish you all the best of luck with your future endeavors.

BTW I'd love to see these great replies disseminated to a wider audience. Would any of you be so kind as to write a short review on Amazon?

Hey david, you made a great job on it.

By the way, reading the comments in amazon, i agree with one. I feel that some more mel scripts examples would be great. I have Mel scripting for animators as well (you may know this book sure).

I mostly use it to read examples, and yours for the basis....where i find it impressive
