Okay, most of you have seen my Mood1 piece. But, you see, that piece was never really finished--I had planned more for it, but somehow dropped the idea. Now, I'm going back to rework the original idea back in. BUT, I don't know if I should just leave it as it is.

So, here's a rough draft of the new idea--it's totally UNFINISHED, and very rough. Just sketched in to get the overall feel.

Let me know if I should just leave it like it was, or keep going with this new idea.

For a minuet there I thought you were saying she was sketched in. Very beautiful work. I think the BG works well but it could get a little distracting. How about making the line work finer. I'm not big on the wings idea but that is just my taste. I have just seen it far to many times.

I think if you where to take the wings a bit further then this may work.....but I'd say go with white wings for added contrast.....but in the end it's still looking nice....but the wings and tattoos look a bit out of place...........

keep it up

I agree with Pen that the wall texture would work great, but could get distracting. I think it would look nice to have the horizontal bar that runs behind her midsection to stay thick and the lines above that be thinner/more intricate.

The wings look really good, but they aren't anything new. With a lack of ideas for what else to put in the space however, I'd probably leave them because the balance is nice (dark on left, brighter on right).

The tattoos on her face I don't like at all, but the ones on her arm look cool.

this is still one of the most beautiful images I've seen on this board up to date. I say go for it! Just make sure that the light source doesn't get blocked by the wing.

Definately go for it!

I think the black wings are great - and the black wings/clothes are a nice contrast to the blonde hair

I'm not so keen on the tattoos, personally, though...

I don't know man, the tattoos are great! Maybe leave out the one on the forehead. Keep the side face and arm tattoos.

Just awesome!:buttrock: :buttrock:

Actually they're both excellent images - I particularly like the background of the newer image. I think the tattoos are going to be the bone of contention. The face tattoos detract a bit from the beauty of her face, but the arm tattoo is great.

And this is rough???

i think the idea is great espacially the tatoos:thumbsup:
but i think the sword is too much maybe u should get rid of it

Yeah - the arm tattoos are great, but, as FallenSwordsman said, the facial tattoos do kinda detract

You could maybe extend the arm one, so it comes down from her shoulder, and out around the arm at the same time...

Great work; overall image is wonderful, although the tatoos and the sword are some-what iffy, depending on the image you want to portray. I'd like to see it with white winds myself, if for no other reason than to see it again. ;)

One comment: it appears as if she only has one wing; shouldn't the left wing be visible at some point?

The new idea you have going, is great.
Once detail is added to the wings, I think keeping them black will look really good.
With highlights on them like a crows color of wings or so.

I like them both. I think the new one would look much better without the wings or with the wings in a more relaxed/tucked away position (I think this would match her pose better as she doesn't really appear to be in action as the position of the wings might indicate). The texture of the wings has more of a velvet/suede feel to it than feathers.

i defenitly would go for black wings, its mysterious and something else than the al ever white wings. like the tatoos very much only the background is a bit crowded with drawings. draws your attention away from the girl.

very nice work, my compliments.

the wing-picture... have seen it before. Quite boring actually.

The other one though, the old picture. It's lovely. A girl, showing emotion, leaning against a wall.
It's perfect.
I think you should go back to the old one and touch it up, maybe make her cry or seem happy... but the wings... over the top.

One don't see many ordinary people doing ordinary stuff here. :/
Maybe that's a bit harder to do.

There's a sort of moody ambience in the original which isn't as dominant in the new image, that said, I really would like to see where you could take the new image cuz it's looking pretty nice! ;)

I loved this the first time I saw it. My pref is towards the original. The added stuff seems a bit out of place on her actually...not sure if its becuase i warmed up to this a long time ago and got used to it or the wings thing is kind of done. I'd try to work the wings alot more if you pursue that road, but I fell in love with the colors and atmosphere of the original. The original speaks volumes and has more impact on me than the wings version.

Lunatique, your work, as always, is excellent. I like the first painting, the simpler one, better. It's atmospheric, moody, and mysterious, and very well executed. The details added to the second one, while interesting, seem generic, and give an otherwise wonderful peice a common "fantasy" feel. This one feels done, and I'd suggest just starting a new painting of a sword wearing dark angel, so that the elements may integrate better, compositionally, and design-wise. Better still, in my opinion, would be to push the creative envelope a little more and design elements that aren't so widespread, that's not to say there isn't a place for wings and swords and tattoos, I just get a feeling that you can do more.

Good luck and I'm sure we'll all love it no matter what you decide.

[edit - I meant not so widespread]

I like the Idea of filling in the background and making it a fuller richer picture, but I say; leave the wings out of it!

I like both. Some Crits; I think her arse and the small of her back could be trimmed back to create a slightly more sexy line there near her hand. That area really drives us men crazy!
Also, she seems a bit sunken into the wall, perhaps a crack of light could suggest curves that are facing away from this POV, her waist and other breast/arm specifically...
Her face and hair are just awesome! The tats even are working for me, but if you are not sure if you want to make more changes then how about a new babe?

Great Stuff there Robbie!

My suggestion would be to make the characters on her face from an actual language (I'm thinking along the lines of Theban or Enochian) Just do a google search for each to find some reference.

Awesome!

The original was better. I'd leave it be.

I look at the original and I see a very nice figure/portrait study. It's great. Really great.

Add wings, tattoos, sword, background...Just makes it like any other piece you'd see.

But that's just my opinion.

Again, first one's lovely.

Second one, to me, is generic.

Lovely work either way.

wow, lunatique those are fantastic :) I like both, but I prefer the older one cause I focus on the chick more and seem less distracted. The new ones wings are too dark, hell I can barely make them out as 'wings'. I actually like the background texturing on the wall... If I had to choose, I'd say ditch the wings, keep the new wall texture.

Just to stir the pot a bot:p Sweet work man

Excellent feedback everyone!

Well, looks like I'll hold off on the new idea. I knew the whole fantasy stuff is a bit played out these days, but I didn't really know how people who actually are into sci-fi/fantasy in general felt. The whole sword/wing thing sure wasn't clichéd when I was younger... How times have changed! I blame it on Brom and the others working in that "dark" style! :D

...I think part of the issue here is that she's just... well.. standing there. Which is fine for the minimalist, subtle look that the original had, but seems kinda odd on a woman with wings and a sword-- I mean, what is she up to? Just kinda... taking a break from flying around and hacking at things, and thinking about... trees? There's nothing to give a sense of who she is and what's going on in her head. I think that's the problem-- the line- and form-driven ambience of the first was broken, with nothing specific to take its place. If all that makes sense. http://smiles.ru/coll/jorry/upset.gif Just kinda rambling.

I personally love fantasy stuff, there's no such thing as too much of it that's done well!
