bRoKEn_CycLE, ah he's so fleshy, excellent, his ears look thick, and the folds and wrinkles on his face read well. There's a a ton of detail in the form of the horns - is he wearing some sort of hat?
The stiching looks more like laces, so maybe there needs to be a knot or bow or some sort of tie off at the top or bottom of the laced sections. A great looking character!
hey thanks guys....
more is coming......thats for sure....
and Wetterschneider
your right it does need a tie some where...I'll have to look into that.....
at some point I'll post the consept images that I put together before I started him....

 The models coming along lovely bRoKEn_CycLE.
Have you considered adding small horns protruding through the elbows, or longer fingernails? I love the addition of the skully necklace. Keep it coming man:applause:
Wow, great details on the head :D

lol, those horns look like old socks filled with cotton :) Why are they hanging like that? Horns are meant for defencing purposes, what could that guy do with his horns if someone or something is attackin him? Nothing. I think you should make them sharper and bend them forward.
Very nice model, but I dont understand the shape of the horns.

I like it..
2 Things:
1. Isnt' oger spelled like OGRE? I could be wrong..
2. Does he play on an Xbox, He sure has the hands for it :)

I like the horns/growth type things going on...I think that the classic bull horns are a tad overdone in some cases. Not to say sharp horns aren't cool, they just get used alot and suit certain models more than others. Great work so far guys, look forward to more......
hey thanks for your imput guys......
I guess the horns might seem usless but I was not designing them to be defencive.....just some thing fun to look at.
hmmmm....smaller horns off the front ???? funny thing is when I was designing him in the drawings he did have those types of horns......I took them out because I thought it was too much.....maybe I'll give it a shot see what I think....
well boys and girls I'm out update soon.

I do like where you are going with the textures Spirit2029, but i feel that the blotches on his skin should be less uniform. Try to think of why he has blotches on his skin in the first place. Maybe its the sun, if so make them more apparent on parts of the body that often come in direct contact with the sun and less in those that don't. As far as his clothing, I envisioned some sort of leathery texture. Maybe white out contacts in his eyes.
Anyway keep it coming you two!

hey thanx all for the replies on the textures, they are just a test.. The eye's arent even textured, just simply material clusters. The head is unwraped, but the arms were just camera projected for now, so we will look at fading out the old age patches, etc, so they aren't so apparent on the under side of the arm..
As for details getting lost because of the texture...unfortunatley you guys cant see the high-res version's yet. When we get some web space you'll see, all the shapes and texture blend very nicely. just in compressed version the texture looks like its bleeding and patchy, which it isn;t.. oh well..
We will be addin in translucency to the ears, lips, etc, and there is some more color variation to go onto the face, the test is just the base skin really...
more to come...

Very nice work on the model, but the texture job isn't working with it. The model's very smooth, and the texture job should try to incorporate some scars or weathering, the bump map looks ok. The main problem is that the texture looks too uniform all over, there are no distinctions in areas of his skin, it looks almost like a not so good procedural (no offense as I couldn't do half of what you've done). I just think the model rises above where it';s heading. Also, try to work on some SSS for the skin shader. I don't know what kinda character he has, but right now he's starting to come accross as a friendly ogre. Add scratches to his leather, scars, wrinkles and blemishes. Good job tho like I said.

Looking good!!!
The only thing i think could get better are his hands, they are well modelled but not shure if they belong to an ogre; i think they should be more grotesque (sorry my english:hmm: ) shorter fingers, thiker, broken and long nails, etc.
But then again, itīs looking very good.

Yeah the new texture is definately better IMO!!! Good stuff!!!
John Lee
hehe I like the design of the ear, looks kewl :p
okay hell yah
thanks guys I got a lot of imput to work with here.....
so the hands ...yes the hands will be changed quite abit....
three fingers and long nails all that good stuff.
and the color map is getting totally redone.....this one just is not cutting it.....but I'm going to keep the bump as it is and just tool it up a bit more.....
there is a lot more detail stuff to come ....just trying to give myself some thing to look at hence the not so good color map.
all right more is coming...
Reo
okay sorry I've been caught up in the elf and demon characters I've been doing .......so I've let this post slip a bit.....but tonight I promis a new update.....again sorry...

The textures look too uniform...
things like the spotches and hair should vary more in size.
Looking very awesome though!

Really neat looking character. I realize the oversized hands are intentional (right?), but I think the elbow joint seems a little high. The causes the length of the forearm to the upper arm to seem a little odd to me. If that's intentional too, then, carry on :)

How about the cool guy now.

I was just wondering, for the earlier untextured shots, how were you getting the nice radiosity look? Was it final gathering or the ambient occlusion 'dirt map' shader for XSI?
Cheers,
Dan.

Great work guys...but I have to agree with betelgeuse. The forarms are way too long. Just doesnt look natural. The head is amazing...and I like the horns the way you did it. I also thing the bull horns are a biut overdone. Keep up the good work.
