Hi all,

using xsi 5.11 on windows:

My property windows for any selected object will only show the name field. Even I try to bring up all connected properties (alt enter) it still only shows the name field. This is quickly become a big issue as there are a few properties that are hard to manually locate and others I would not even know where to start looking. I cant even pull up camera properties by going (cam icon)> properties it only displays the cam name.

Any suggestions

Ive tried restarting and changing property window preferences. But no luck

Thanks for any help

chad

Do you have another ppg open somewhere? I very occasionaly get this problem in 5.11 when I use a custom layout with embeded PPGs.
My solution would be to inspect the next node in the hierarchy e.g. for a light object, inspect the light primitive (P icon in the explorer), instead of the light model (bulb icon). Of course, this may not be ideal for your workflow.

Also, have you tried using the arrows at the top of the PPG, to navigate between ancestor nodes?

I agree, this can be quite annoying!!!

Hope this helps.

Thanks CiaranM,

I have been using the primitive properties for many things , thats just one property type Im forced to manualy open. It's not ideal :). other than that, I have tried navigating through ppg's with the arrows, but it was still only showing the name field.

Cheers

Sorry it didn't help. I've only experienced this problem with my custom layout & ppgs, so I assumed that was the source of the problem.

Sorry if this is too obvious, but it's not tab-style property editors, is it?

File > Preferences > Interaction, then click the Property Editors/Views tab and turn off Tab Style Property Editors.

I'm running into the same issue. The property editor doesn't list the modeling attributes when I push enter like it does when something is first created. Even when I press alt+enter the polygon mesh section is missing all those attributes. I've tried the Tab Style preference thing, but no joy. I'm an XSI noob thinking about switching from Maya. Have I disabled some option or something?

What do you see under the object in the explorer? Do you have the push op in there?
If you have the property there, click on the icon (or click two times in the node) and the PPG of that object should pop up.
If not, it's probably some setting or the tab style maybe (check preferences)... or something wrong with your system.

Just as an advise, if you have "Imeed" on (in the left, edit panel), your ops will be collapsed (like the delete history in maya). So you will loose the Op as soon as you apply it.
Keep an eye in the explorer (8) to get your head around XSI. Try the different scopes in there too...

Yep, "Immed" was on. This was probably the other guy's problem too. With my video settings the button is mostly off the screen (I have it at the bottom right). I'll have to look into the proper monitor settings to avoid these interface issues. Thanks a lot for your help.

you can right click into one of the panels (transform, snap, constrain..) and this would collapse that panel.
So you get a bit more room in the MCP.
