Hi! great classical mood you have going on here.
I would like to comment on the lighting a bit though. The lighting youve used is too simple, looks like just a round spotlight. A few points you could improve to make it look better:
- make the light falling on the ground the shape/colors of the window, church windows are always very shapeful and colorful, it would be nice to see this in the shadow as well.
- get some GI in there to brighten up the parts that are not in the light. They shouldnt be too bright but just a bit to show whats going on in the rest of the scene.
- the pilars arent casting a shadow or something? what is going on there?
The modeling looks very nice, just the lighting needs quite some work!
good luck!

i concur. from what i can see the modeling and texturing look good, but it is very very dark. add some global illumination to get simulate the light bouncing off surfaces and lighting up the rest of the room.

imho Normally the light within a church is full of brightness and color from large stained glass windows. The atmospheric light within a church interior is meant to inspire and uplift the human spirit. Architects endeavor to make this light different than ordinary daylight.
But here I must ask you your original intent and not run with the image I imagine. There is no furniture, no pews, no alter. Why is this perhaps you are making a statement about religion. Has God left the church. Is only His waning light left. Has man abandoned this church and correspondingly abandoned his fidelity to God?
This is a finished render. You have set an interesting question. I wonder.

thank you all for your kind words.
@ simonjaap. Thanks for your critic. Glad you like the classical mood. :)
It´s a good idea to get some shape from a window casting a shadow on the ground. And you´re right with the colourful church windows. but I didn´t wanted to get to much colour in the image. My idea was more to create some old abbey arch, one can still find them in scotland.
With the lightproblem you mentioned: Yes you´re right I used some normal spotlights, but there are also some photons bouncing around in this scene. Otherwise it would have been even darker.:) maybe I should have lighten the whole scene a bit more with these photons.
@ wowbaggin . Thank you for your comment. I´ll lighten the whole scene.
@ joebattleartist. Thanks for your comment. Interesting idea you came up with. But I had no religious thought while creating his scene.
@ awchin . thanks. glad you like the arch.
@ yijiajun. Thanks for your comment.
