View Full Version : MoGraph: Limiting Delay Effector to certain Axes?
Kokosing 10-17-2007, 10:39 AM My spring delay effector is working great on all parameters except Z position. Is there a simple way to constrain or deactivate this axis? I'm getting a lot of collisions on this axis only. The controls only allow me to switch all position tracks on and off.
Thanks,
W

I've attached a Custom version of SteadyDDL that have a z restriction for position.
Basically you have to split the position vectors and use the undamped z and the damped x&y.
There is a Z lock userdata slider on the tag to mix the states.
The parent Null dictates the direction of interest.
Note this is only for position damping, rotation damping would need extra setups.
I.g feed the old and new rotation to a MinimizeAngle node(best done with a coffee node)
and then back to the to be damped object (Target)

Wow, thanks for this. The control looks great. Before I dig deeper into this, can you tell me if it will work with a mograph fracture object where the child objects are being moved by mograph effectors?
Thanks again,

Haven't a clue, you must try (Haven't got my head around the Fracture object actually....)

Well I can see this working nicely after each object's animation has been converted to keyframes, but while the mograph effectors are still driving things, there are no local coordinates to work with unless you dig into the mograph expresso nodes and pull out each object coords which I'd rather not do at this stage.
But I'll keep this handy for use elsewhere if you don't mind.
BTW - the Z lock didn't actually seem to be locking the Z.
Thanks again,

Why do you say that? It does.

Sorry if I'm missing something, shouldn't the torus' movement be restricted to X and Y axes?

No, the z axis (thats how I understod you wanted it).
Add a mix node for x and y as well and you can control all three axis.
